Matthew Houck has always had
a knack for creating incredible music. Before he adopted the moniker Phosphorescent, he performed all over the world under
the name Fillup Shack. While he was going by Fillup Shack, he released an album, Hipolit, but soon after decided to change
his performing name to Phosphorescent. In 2003, Houck released his first full-length album as Phosphorescent, titled A Hundred
Times or More, under the label Warm Records. He continued to perform all over the world and started working on new music.
He released the follow-up EP to his debut album less than a year later, and The Weight of Flight started to earn him significant
attention amongst the indie music scene.
Although Phosphorescent had achieved serious momentum after the release of
his debut album and EP, he started to receive major critical acclaim after the 2005 release of his album, Aw Come Aw Wry.
Both critics and fans adored his new music, and he started to gain the reputation as one of the biggest breakthrough artists
in indie music. He released his next album, Pride, in 2009, and it was quickly named one of the top 15 best albums of 2007
by Stylus Magazine. After receiving rave reviews from Pitchfork Media and garnering countless new fans through his extensive
performing, it was safe to say that Phosphorescent had become one of the most exciting and beloved artists in indie music.
