Piedmont Park is an urban park in Atlanta, Georgia that was established all the way back in 1895 and is one of the biggest attractions in the city. Each year millions visit the park which is a great place for a leisurely stroll or a picnic but also offers up quality entertainment in the form of concerts, expositions, festivals, special events, and theatrical productions. Piedmont Park Events

There is always something exciting going on at Piedmont Park, form the popular Screen on the Green productions to the yearly Dogwood Festival and beyond. Magnolia Hall, located in the park, is home to the theatrical productions at the park including the Shakespeare festival Shake at the Lake. Concerts are also a big part of the schedule at Piedmont Park with performers like John Mayer, Eminem, Jack White, Run DMC, Iggy Azalea, and more performing in the park. Perhaps the biggest event held at Piedmont Park each year is the two day music festival Music Midtown which brings in the top musical acts of the day.


Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta is one of the busiest and largest metropolitan areas in the United States and as such there is always plenty to do in the city. It boasts the sixth largest economy of any city in the United States and the fifteenth in the world. In 1996 Atlanta hosted the Summer Olympics and the city began a renovation that continues to this day and has truly made it a world class city. Atlanta has permanent resident companies in all major performing arts: the Atlanta Opera, the Atlanta Ballet, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and the Alliance Theatre. The Fox Theatre is a historic landmark and a great place to take in a show, or you can visit any of the wonderful museums in the area including Museum of Design Atlanta, the High Museum of Art, Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, and many others.

Trivia

Although these days it is mainly used for theater, concerts, and festivals, Piedmont Park once was home to some of the biggest athletic competitions i the area. From 1902 through 1904 Piedmont Park was home to the Atlanta Crackers which was the city's first pro baseball team and also hosted the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry, the annual college football game between Georgia and Alabama.
