About Pink

Hailing from Philadelphia, Pink would get an early start on her music career, picking up her first guitar before she was a teenager. In her early years, she was inspired by her father who played guitar and sang. At the age of 14, she took to the mean streets of Philadelphia and began gaining her stage name Pink for her extreme nature. In her teenage years she was a part of various local scene projects and bands, but would develop her own sound while taking the world by storm with the launch of her solo career.

Her big break was in 2000 when she released her debut album "Can't take me home". It went double platinum, earning her a spot as NSYNC's opening act, and helping her win the female new artist of the year at the 2000 Billboard music awards. The following year, Pink receive her first number one single and her first grammy award for best pop collaboration with vocals alongside Christina Aguilera, Mya, and Lil' Kim in a cover of "Lady Marmalade" for the soundtrack of Moulin Rouge!

At this point in her rapidly climbing career, Pink was tired of being labeled as a teen pop idol. To break the mold, she enlisted the help of her childhood idol Linda Perry to change the direction of her music. Pink accomplished this with the album "Missundaztood", her top selling album, in 2001. Her third studio album. "Try This" garnered her with her first solo grammy win and another platinum record. Pink has released three more studio records that have all been well received and successful. In 2009 Pink was recognized by Billboard as the pop artist of the decade as well as the 2013 Woman of the Year. She has continued developing a unique sound and working on new projects, most recently with a collaboration from the lead singer of City of Color, Dallas Green. Her newest album, "rose ave.", will hit the shelves on October 14.

Previous Hits

Pink's first big success was in late 2001 with the release of "Missundaztood" It went five times Platinum and contained some of her biggest hits including "Get The Party Started", "Don't Let Me Get Me", and "Just Like a Pill". This would pave the way for her grammy award winning album, "Try This" which contained singles such as "Trouble" and "Feel Good Time". Since then, Pink has released another 3 studio albums and a slew of chart topping singles including, "Lady Marmalade", "So What", "Raise Your Glass", and most recently, "Just Give Me a Reason" featuring Nate Ruess. All four of these chart topping songs are certified platinum and have sold millions.

Before Pink was a solo artist she was in an all girls R&B group called Choice. All three band members were under 18 so their parents co-signed their contracts. They recorded a full album but it was never released. However, their song, "Key to my Heart" was on the soundtrack to the 1996 film Kazaam starring Shaquille O'Neal.
