Two top college football teams will test their limits this winter when they hit the field for the Pinstripe Bowl, one of the college football postseason bowl games. The Pinstripe Bowl is always an exciting affair that features two squads ready to lay it all on the line in order to win their final game of the season. This year's game will be played on December 27th at Yankee Stadium in New York, NY. That's right; this game will be played where the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball play their home games. Last season the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were able to take down the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, a team that had won the Pinstripe Bowl in the past, to get their first victory in this game. Offensive tackle Zack Martin was named the Most Valuable Player of the game, which is a real feat for an offensive lineman. Martin was the first lineman to win the award; in fact, he was the first non-running back to take home MVP honors in the history of the Pinstripe Bowl.


Pinstripe Bowl History

The very first Pinstripe Bowl was held in 2010, and it is the first football game to be hosted at the new Yankee Stadium, although the old stadium hosted many games in its long history. Featuring top teams from theBig Eastand the Big 12, the Pinstripe Bowl is always an amazing celebration of college football, making for a great event loaded with intensity and excitement. The Syracuse Orange were able to take home the victory in the first Pinstripe Bowl back in 2010, as they defeated the Kansas State Jayhawks in a thriller by a score of 36-34. That was truly a great way to kick off the history postseason contest. The following year Rutgers was able to take home the trophy when they took down Iowa State with a convincing 27-14 win. 2012 saw Syracuse return to the Pinstripe Bowl and again get the victory, this time beating the West Virginia Mountaineers by a count of 38-14. In 2013 the Notre Dame Fighting Irish won the Pinstripe Bowl by defeating Rutgers by a score of 29-16. There have been many memorable plays in the Pinstripe Bowl, and some great players were a part of those moments. The history of this game is really still just getting rolling, and every year adds to it.
