like Aesop Rock, Liars, Silver Jews, Os Mutantes, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Yo La Tengo, Diplo, Spoon the Walkmen, and
more. Over 35,000 fans came to see the 41 bands taking part in the first ever Pitchfork Music Festival. After experiencing
such success during the first year of the festival, the organizers decided to expand the festival to three days with a shorter
Friday set that would feature beloved bands performing one of their most classic releases. For the 2007 festival Pitchfork
brought in Sonic Youth to perform Daydream Nation, Slint to perform Spiderland, and GZA to perform Liquid Swords. This was
along with the countless other bands who performed on Saturday and Sunday. After the 2007 event, Pitchfork Music Festival
remained a three day event and only grew in scope and popularity. It is now one of the most anticipated summertime music festivals
in the country.

first Pitchfork Music Festival was held in 2006, but its origins can be traced to the Intonation Festival of 2005. The people
behind the online zine were asked to help put together the 2005 Intonation Festival in Chicago and brought in bands like Tortoise,
The Decemberists, Les Savy Fav, Broken Social Scene, the Hold Steady, and more. After the success of helping put together
a festival Pitchfork decided that they could do their own and a tradition was born.
