Pittsburgh Pirates Spring Training the Experience

Baseball has been around for a long time, dating all the way back to the 19th century and giving fans many great moments over the years. Though things have changed quite a bit since the early days, the game is still as exciting as ever, as Major League Baseball routinely brings together some of the most skilled ballplayers in the world to battle it out on the diamond. We know that the regular season and playoffs are musts for fans, but don't make the mistake of missing out on spring training as well, because it's the perfect sneak preview for your favorite teams and players.

Pittsburgh Pirates Team

With Andrew McCutchen and Pedro Alvarez leading the way, the Pittsburgh Pirates will be looking to round into form during spring training and then pile up the wins on their way up the N.L. East standings in another season loaded with nail-biting moments. This is a team with a very bright future thanks to a seriously talented roster filled with rising stars, which is why it's safe to say that winning baseball is back to Steel City in a very big way. And it all starts during spring training, as the Pirates take to the field in sunny Bradenton, Florida looking to get the season off to a good start.

Pittsburgh Pirates Trivia

Did you know the Pirates were the benefactor of one of the most famous plays in Major League Baseball history?

The year was 1960 and Bill Mazeroski strolled to the plate with game seven of the World Series on the line. Then it happened: a long fly ball to deep left field that disappeared over the wall, marking the first and only time that game seven of the World Series was ever decided by a home run. From there, the Pirates became one of the most famous franchises in the sport, adding two more World Series rings in the 1970s and some other close calls to boot.

Pittsburgh Pirates History

Pittsburgh Pirates MLB tickets have been in the sports tickets market since the late 1880s, though the Bucs had some of their best years in the 1970s while they won two World Series titles thanks to a guy you might have heard of: Roberto Clemente. Bill Mazeroski, Barry Bonds and Andy Van Slyke are a few of the other great players who have dominated on the field wearing Pirates gear, and you never know when the next superstar is going to burst onto the scene with a banner season that has everyone buzzing all over town.

Pittsburgh Pirates Fans

Last season saw the Pittsburgh finish strong in their division, finishing near the top of the N.L. Central standings and pushing them to their first playoff appearance since Barry Bonds was playing for the team. As the team heads to Florida for spring training this season, they'll be focusing on finding the winning formula to go all the way in the playoffs. And even though it's not quite as intense as the postseason or a mid-season rivalry game, spring training has a whole different vibe to it that has had baseball fans pouring into the stands on a regular basis for generations.

With a more laid back atmosphere, it's the perfect opportunity to get a little sunshine and see if your favorite team has what it takes to make a big move all the way up the divisional standings this season. In an exciting new era of Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, the enthusiasm and optimism down in Florida are nothing short of unbelievable, making Bradenton the place to be if you want to get knee-deep in the action this spring.
