The answer is Ralph Kiner, the great Pirate left-fielder who was one of the best power
hitters of his era. Not only did he set the Pirate record for slugging percentage at.658 in 1949, Kiner would actually lead
the National League in home runs for seven consecutive seasons, with it really all coming together for Kiner at the end of
the decade. In 1949, Kiner ended up with a career-high 54 round-trippers to go along with 127 RBIs to give him one of the
greatest hitting seasons in the history of the franchise.
