Central, though it's never easy in the same division as the Cardinals, Reds, Brewers and Cubs. But after making the postseason two straight seasons, the Pirates are ready to roll again in 2015 and have their fans anticipating yet another run towards the playoffs, giving you plenty of incentive to head out and see if the Pirates have what it takes to make it happen. When the game is on the line and the Pirates are in the middle of an epic nail-biter that could go either way, the experience of seeing the Pirates in action will completely speak for itself.

And that's why home games at PNC Park are sure to be absolutely loaded to the brim with fanfare and passion as the Pirates look to put it all together once again this season. This is a team that has shown it plays a very exciting style of baseball, which helps to make the stands absolutely hopping from one matchup to the next thanks to the talent level of the ball club and the great fan base at their backs. As the Pirates look to take down a huge win, you'll definitely understand loud and clear what all of the buzz is about, not to mention why baseball is back in a very big way in Pittsburgh.

But the beauty of a long season is that it's not only about the home games. Come out and see the Pirates on the road and you'll get an entirely different perspective on your favorite team, which is why it's always a good idea to put down the remote and head out to watch the Pirates when they're away from home. Either way, the Pirates have all types of potential in the N.L. Pittsburgh Pirates Team Info

The Pittsburgh Pirates play in the National League Central division of Major League Baseball, a division that has become known as one of the most competitive in the league. The Pirates had another strong season in 2014, making the playoffs and once again being one of the top teams in the National League. The Pirates didn't win the National League Central crown, but second place was good enough for a Wild Card berth for the second straight season. The Pirates are looking to play even better in 2015, well enough to win the division title and take their swings towards the Fall Classic. Thanks to a potent line up and a strong pitching rotation led by Francisco Liriano and a lineup led by Andrew McCutchen, Neil Walker and more, this is a team that definitely isn't going to go quietly this season as they look to once again make a move up the divisional standings.

The MLB Experience

Pirates' fans love their baseball, and they can't get enough of seeing it in person. That's why heading out to a Pirates game is such a good time, because you'll feel the love of the game in the ballpark. The Pirates have some big games on their home schedule this season, and the fans will come out in a big way to support their favorite team. But just don't make the mistake of thinking that it's only about the home matchups, as every Pirates fan needs to eventually get out and see their favorite team in foreign territory. Once you watch your Pirates hit the field for a highly anticipated road matchup, you might even be kicking yourself for not doing it a whole lot sooner, as Pirates fans tend to be very well-traveled and you can count on seeing plenty of Pirate black and gold throughout the regular season.

Pittsburgh Pirates History

The Pittsburgh Pirates franchise was founded in 1882, when the team was simply known as Allegheny. They became the Pittsburgh Alleghenys in 1887 and finally the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1912. The Pirates have had a lot of successful seasons over the course of their long history, winning the National League Pennant nine times and capturing the World Championship on five occasions, the most recent of which came in 1979. They've also had plenty of great players, such as Roberto Clemente, Bill Mazeroski, Hank Greenberg and Willie Stargell just to name the tip of the iceberg, helping to solidify them as a talented franchise that is never lacking in the stars of both yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Pittsburgh Pirates Trivia

Who holds the single-season Pirates record for highest slugging percentage?

The answer is Ralph Kiner, the great Pirate left-fielder who was one of the best power hitters of his era. Not only did he set the Pirate record for slugging percentage at.658 in 1949, Kiner would actually lead the National League in home runs for seven consecutive seasons, with it really all coming together for Kiner at the end of the decade. In 1949, Kiner ended up with a career-high 54 round-trippers to go along with 127 RBIs to give him one of the greatest hitting seasons in the history of the franchise.
