Pittsburgh Steelers Schedule in 2014

The Pittsburgh Steelers are ready to hit the field and do battle with some of the top teams in the National Football League this season, and fans will flood into Heinz Field to see the action unfold for themselves. The Steelers are coming off a 2013 season in which they were unable to make the postseason, which is uncommon for this franchise. The Steelers always seem to be in the hunt for the AFC North title, and the organization surely expects to be back in form in 2014. The Steelers will have to face some tough teams at home this season, and games against division rivals will be crucial in their hunt for the top spot in the standings.

The Steelers will host the Cleveland Browns to kick off the season on September 7th in what should be a much-anticipated contest, not only because it's the home opener at Heinz Field but also because it could be the team's first glimpse at quarterback Johnny Manziel. Manziel may or not be the opening day starter for the Browns, but there is no question that people will pack the stands to catch a glimpse of the Heisman-winning QB.

Pittsburgh will certainly have December 28th circled on their calendars as well. This is the final home game of the regular season for the Steelers, and it comes against divisional rival Cincinnati. The Steelers and Bengals have a great rivalry, and it should only be heightened by the fact that the Bengals are the reigning divisional champs.

Pittsburgh Steelers Team Info

The Pittsburgh Steelers are ready to return to the playoffs this season, and they've got some new faces on the roster to help get them there. The Steelers selected Ohio State linebacker Ryan Shazier with their first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, and his explosiveness should fit well in the Steelers' defensive scheme. The Steelers had some holes on the defensive line, and they have plugged one with the selection of Notre Dame defensive end Stephon Tuitt in the second round, Tuitt had a subpar 2013 season but was a beast in 2012, and that may have been enough to convince the Steelers that he's a stud ready to take on the league. The Steelers landed a real speedster in the third round in running back Dri Archer. His 4.24 40 times at the combine says it all, though the team will likely limit his touches due to his size. Still, add in these exciting new players and the rest of their draft class and Pittsburgh has all the makings to return to the postseason.

Fan Experience

There is nothing better than catching a National Football League game in person. When these players hit the field for kickoff, the entire stadium awaits in anticipation and then erupts as the game commences. The action is sure to be fierce each and every time the Steelers take to the gridiron at Heinz Field, one of the most famous football venues in the world. This is one of the most storied franchises in the NFL, and they have some of the most dedicated and loyal fans in the league. With Big Ben under center, anything can happen for the Pittsburgh Steelers, giving you plenty of reasons to ditch the couch so you can be a part of the action in a way that you simply can't following the game on your disappointing flat screen or your fancy phone. Come out and be a part of the scene as the Steelers look to turn it around and get back to the top of the standings, a place that fans are used to seeing this famous franchise. As soon as you're there soaking up the vibes of a great game featuring some of the best athletes in the world, you're definitely going to be glad that you're not sitting anywhere else.

The National Football League has become one of those absolute juggernauts, a sports league followed not just in the U.S. but around the world, and it isn't because there is a lack of drama and excitement from game to game and season to season. From the regular season through the Super Bowl and into the Pro Bowl, the NFL brings together a steady string of great matchups that routinely has tens of thousands of fans pouring into stadiums, making for a sporting experience you simply can't find anywhere but the stands. If you haven't seen the Steelers the way they were intended to be seen, you have absolutely no idea what you've been missing.

Pittsburgh Steelers Trivia

Where did Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger attend college?

The answer is Miami of Ohio, where he starred at the school not exactly known for churning out NFL players. However, it was obvious that Big Ben belonged in the pros, and the Steelers took him in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft. Roethlisberger was the third quarterback selected in the draft that season thanks to the quality of the class of signal callers. The two QBs picked before him were Eli Manning and Philip Rivers, two players that were actually traded for one another on draft day.

Pittsburgh Steelers History

NFL tickets to see the Pittsburgh Steelers have been a hot commodity for years, as they've won the Super Bowl many times over the years, including as recently as the 2005 and 2008 seasons. During the 1970s, they also developed a reputation as one of the most prominent franchises in professional sports thanks to the Steel Curtain, which is still the gold standard for defenses in the National Football League.

Pittsburgh Steelers Fans

If you're a fan of football at all, it's probably been hard to avoid the Terrible Towels of the Pittsburgh Steelers' fan base – and that's because they're absolutely everywhere. Though Heinz Field is their home base in Pittsburgh, all over the country you can find Steelers fans showing their support, as the Steelers boast one of the most passionate fans that you'll find anywhere in professional sports. Once you're alongside tens of thousands of your fellow fans, you'll see a sport spring to life in a way that you definitely can't conjure up from home no matter how hard you try.
