DeYoung was born in Chicago on February 18, 1947, and he got his start with a group of friends who later became known as Styx in 1961. Over time, they perfected their craft and began to play live gigs as Styx in 1970. Styx was one of the most successful bands in history, releasing 15 studio and live albums.
DeYoung dabbled with solo work throughout his time with Styx, and officially launched his solo career in 2000. His new work consists of collaborations with orchestras.
