Portland Sea Dogs Schedule
Each summer as the minor league baseball season really begins to heat up, there is no
place in the country more excited than Portland, Maine, home of the Portland Sea Dogs. The Sea Dogs are traditionally one
of the best teas in the Eastern League and this year they are once again dominating the Eastern division, looking to bring
home another league title. As the Double-A affiliates of the Boston Red Sox the Portland Sea Dogs feature some of the best
minor league players in the country, some of whom will go on to become stars in the Major Leagues. The excitement is only
beginning to heat up as the Eastern League season winds down and you will want to be in the stands as the Sea Dogs look to
close out the regular season with a bang.
From June 6th to the 8th the Sea Dogs have a big series with the Bowie Baysox
at Hadlock Field which pits two of the best teams in the Eastern League against one another. On July 21st the Binghamton Mets
come to Portland to begin a three day series. The Mets are a few games behind the Sea Dogs in the Eastern division and these
two teams will be laying it all on the line to finish at the top of the standings by the time September comes. Another Eastern
division foe nipping at the Sea Dogs' heels, the Reading Fightin Phils come to Hadlock Field from August 25th through the
28th for a series that will have a huge impact on the division standings. The Sea Dogs also have home series against the New
Britain Rock Cats, the Erie SeaWolves, the Altoona Curve, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Trenton Thunder, the Akron RubberDucks,
the Richmond Flying Squirrels, and the Harrisburg Senators before the season comes to a conclusion. There are plenty of thrilling
home games to choose from, just pick the ones you can make it to and buy your tickets right here on StubHub.
The Portland Sea Dogs once again find themselves at the top of the Eastern League's Eastern division with a lead
of a handful of games on their closest competitor. There are still plenty of games left to play though, and it will be important
for the Sea Dogs to finish up the season as strongly as they started it if they are going to win a division title and go on
to compete for an Eastern League championship. Second baseman Mookie Betts is having a stellar year leading the team in batting
average, hitting over.370 and has provided plenty of firepower for the Sea Dogs, as has first baseman Travis Shaw who leads
the team in home runs and RBIs. Solid pitching from Keith Couch and Robbie Scott has also made the Sea Dogs one of the toughest
teams to beat in the league and if they can continue their dominating ways the Sea Dogs could be well on their way to a championship.
There is nothing that quite equals the time honored tradition of taking in a baseball game. It
is referred to as America's Pastime after all. From the smell of the freshly cut grass to the National Anthem bellowing through
the stands and the crack of the bat as a hitter connects with a pitch, to the sight of a ball flying over the outfield wall
and the taste of a fresh hot dogs or Cracker Jacks, attending a baseball game is a a sensory experience like no other and
the memories it produces will last a lifetime. The ultimate family outing, a baseball game is an ideal bonding experience
whether you are seeing the game with friends, family, or co-workers. As the innings and pitches pile up everyone in attendance
can feel the intensity pick up as every pitch, run, and base runner, begin to matter more and more. By the time the seventh
inning stretch rolls around a break from the action is welcome just to settle the nerves and enjoy a traditional song before
getting right back to all the excitement for the final two and a half innings. As you file out of the stadium after the last
out you likely will already be wanting to start making plans for your next visit to the ballpark.
