The Portland Trail Blazers in 2013-14

The Portland Trail Blazers are having an unexpected season, as most people did not see this team competing for a playoff spot just yet. This young team certainly looked to have promise heading into the 2013-14 campaign, but not many people saw the Blazers being so competitive. Portland started the season on a tear and has not slowed down since, looking a genuine contender for home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Western Conference is a regular murderer's row of tough teams. Oklahoma City has been nearly unstoppable in 2013-14 despite missing Russell Westbrook for a long stint. The San Antonio Spurs continue to defy the gaining process and refuse to miss a beat due to injury. The Clippers look like they made a smart move in trading for head coach Doc Rivers in the offseason, while Houston has one of the best one-two punches in the league in James Harden and Dwight Howard.

Portland has one heck of a dynamic duo, though, in power forward LaMarcus Aldridge and point guard Damian Lillard. Aldridge has always been one of the more underrated players in the National Basketball Association, but people are taking notice this year. Aldridge appears to be playing with a high level of confidence and he's taken his game to new heights. Offensively he's nearly unstoppable thanks to his ability to play in the post and knock down jumpers from all over the court. Lillard has been even better than he was last season in his Rookie of the Year campaign, showing himself to be a star player in the making. Lillard has quickly emerged as one of the premier three-point shooters in the league, and the second-year pro has posted some big games this season. He and Aldridge may be able to carry this team to heights that few through possible before the season started.

The Blazers are not a two-man team, though, as multiple role players have been a big part of the team's success this year. Small forward Nicolas Batum is a great glue guy that plays stellar defense and knocks down shots whenever he is open. Batum probably still has not reached his ceiling as a player yet, and the Blazers are hoping that he can develop into a legitimate third scoring option for this Portland team. Shooting guard Wesley Mathews is having his best season as a pro, and his presence may fly under the radar but his value is very real for the Blazers. If the Blazers can make it to the postseason this season, which seems likely, they could make some serious noise and win multiple series.

The Experience of a Portland Trail Blazers Playoff Game

For fans of the National Basketball Association, playoff time is the best time of the year. Everything that you love about the game of basketball and the NBA is taken to the next level in the postseason, as the action on the court is about as intense as you can imagine. Only the best teams get into the postseason, and the quality of play is obvious when you catch a game in person. The Blazers are sure to make some amazing plays on the hardwood this season if they can secure a playoff spot, and you can be there in the stands to see it live.

Portland Trail Blazers Trivia

Who is the NBA Developmental League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers?

The answer is the Idaho Stampede. This team serves as a kind of minor league team for the Blazers. At any time Portland can call up a player from the Stampede or use Idaho as a place to get some of their younger players at the end of the bench playing time.

Portland Trail Blazers Postseason History

The Portland Trail Blazers have a long history of winning basketball games, and over the years they've given their fans plenty to cheer about in the NBA's postseason. The Blazers have been to the postseason many times, reaching the NBA's second season by winning their division on four occasions, the last of which came in 1999. Portland has been able to capture their conference's championship three times, which means they have played in the NBA Finals three times. The Blazers were able to win the NBA Championship in 1977 behind big man Bill Walton. Walton's career would suffer from injury woes, but the basketball world got to see what he was capable of when he led the Blazers to the promised land that one season.

Portland Trail Blazers Fans

When it comes to passionate NBA fans, look no further than Portland. The fans of the Portland Trail Blazers could be the most loyal and dedicated fans in the entire National Basketball Association. Every home game is packed to the brim with these Blazers diehards, and come playoff time the energy in the crowd will reach an all-time high.
