Blazers Update – April
The Portland Trail Blazers are battling out West, fighting for a playoff spot in an
extremely competitive Western Conference. The Blazers had an up and down March, netting a.500 record in the month, and they're
looking to finish strong and earn as high a seed as possible in the playoffs. Portland has significantly outperformed the
general expectations facing them coming into the 2013-14 season, and a big reason for that has been power forward LaMarcus
Aldridge. Aldridge has been a very good and probably underrated player for Portland for several years now, but he has been
able to take his game to the next level this season. While some of the MVP buzz surrounding Aldridge has faded, he is still
putting together a fantastic campaign, giving the Blazers a real star player to lean. Don't forget about Damian Lillard, though,
who has followed up hi Rookie of the Year campaign with a fantastic second season. Lillard has proven that his rookie year
was no fluke, and he and Aldridge have kept this team in the playoff hunt in a tough Western Conference.
got some nice wins throughout the month of March, one coming on March 20 against the Washington Wizards, a playoff team in
the Eastern Conference. It was a great battle between two of the top young point guards in the NBA, with Lillard going toe
to toe with Washington's John Wall. Lillard was able to put up a fantastic performance, notching 23 points, six rebounds and
10 assists. Wall was great as well, putting up 24 points and 14 assists. Lillard's team would get the win, though, and that
is what really matters. The Blazers have some huge games in April that will make or break their playoffs hopes.
Update – March
The Portland Trail Blazers have been quite the success story this season, exceeding expectations
and fighting for a spot in the postseason in the competitive Western Conference. The team continued to play well in February,
winning more than half of their games throughout the month despite losing forward LaMarcus Aldridge for a stretch. The Blazers
kicked off the month with a victory over the Toronto Raptors. Toronto has been surging as of late, looking like they could
secure a playoff seed in the Eastern Conference as high as number three. This game took place before Aldridge's injury, and
the former Texas Longhorn made the Raptors pay to the tune of 27 points and 15 rebounds. Aldridge has been incredible all
season long, taking his game to the next level. Aldridge has always been a good player, but he's finally starting to garner
some national attention by leading this young Blazers teams with frequent dominant performances. Damian Lillard and Wesley
Matthews both scored 21 points in this game, and the Blazers need it, as they edged out Toronto by a mere three points.
in the month the Blazers got another quality win when they took down the Denver Nuggets. Denver has had a bit of an up-and-down
season, and Portland was fortunate to collide with the Nuggets with point guard Ty Lawson sidelined with a rib injury. J.J.
Hickson could not be stopped on the boards, grabbing 25 rebounds in the contest, but the Blazers rode Damian Lillard and his
31 points to the victory. The Blazers were without Aldridge in this game, but Lillard picked up a lot of the slack in his
absence throughout the big man's injury. Aldridge is now back in the lineup and Portland is at full strength heading into
the stretch run of the 2013-14 campaign.
The Portland Trail Blazers - Schedule in 2013-14
Trail Blazers are ready to blaze a trail through the Western Conference this season, and fans of the team are confident that
this is a squad that can make its mark on the National Basketball League in 2013-14. The Blazers have a lot of talent on this
roster and are a generally young team, something that benefits the organization throughout the long 82-game season. The Blazers
play in the Northwest Division in the West and are pitted against some of the toughest teams in the conference often as a
result. The Blazers finished fourth in the divisional race last season, but look much-improved this time around. With LaMarcus
Aldridge leading the charge with his best season to date, the Blazers have the postseason in their sights. Aldridge gets a
lot of help from second-year guard Damian Lillard, who won Rookie of the Year honors last season and has taken a step forward
in 2013-14. This young team is setting the league on fire this season and the sky appears to be the limit in Rip City. Fans
are sure to show up in a big way at the Moda Center for all the biggest match-ups this season, and you can be one of them.
Blazers know that they're going to have to go through the Oklahoma City Thunder is they're going to capture the Northwest
Division crown, so every time the Thunder come into the Moda Center this season it's sure to be a huge match-up. The Thunder
have one of the best teams in the NBA, and are just two seasons removed from reaching the NBA Finals. With one of the top
players in the league in Kevin Durant, the Thunder boast a solid team that can beat an opponent in a variety of ways. Durant
is a scoring machine that can be unstoppable on any given night, so the Blazers are going to have to try to shut him down
as best as they can. One player that could be responsible for guarding Durant for much of a game is Nicolas Batum. The small
forward is the best perimeter defender on the Blazers and is known for bottling up some top scorers. Durant might be the toughest
assignment in the league, but having a top perimeter defensive option helps a lot. LaMarcus Aldridge will have his work cut
out for him in trying to score on defensive stalwart Serge Ibaka, whose athleticism and length could give the Blazers go-to
forward some trouble. Any match-ups between Portland and OKC should be fantastic contests this season.
the Blazers will have to step up their game to beat is the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets finished with the second-best record
in the Northwest last season and were able to earn the third seed in the Western Conference playoffs. However, the Nuggets
may take a step back this season after losing head coach George Karl and forward Andre Iguodala, who were integral parts of
the team's success last season. The Blazers will still have to try to contain Ty Lawson, one of the speediest point guards
in the game today. Lawson can hurt an opponent by scoring, distributing and playing ball-hawking defense, so he's a guy that
Portland definitely has to be worried about when Denver visits the Moda Center in 2013-14. It should be a great season of
Blazers hoops this year, one filled with top match-ups for Blazers fans to enjoy at the Moda Center.

include the Oklahoma City Thunder, Utah Jazz, Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets. The Blazers are hoping to grow up
in a big way this season, as the roster is filled with young and talented players that are looking to make their mark in the
NBA. With LaMarcus Aldridge anchoring things down low the Blazers have one of the premier big men in the game. Aldridge is
having his best season as a pro, showing off a versatile offensive repertoire and an improved rebounding rate. Aldridge has
a nice perimeter compliment in the form of point guard Damian Lillard, who has taken another step in his development this
season and become a deadly three-point threat. With versatile swing hitter Nicolas Batum serving as a third option on offense
and the role of lock-down defender, the Blazers have a great core to build upon. This Blazers team looks hungry for a playoff
spot, and they should be able to snag a place in the postseason if they stay healthy and stick to their game plan on a nightly
