ProgPower USA Concert Schedule

Now is the time to take a close look at the schedule for this year's ProgPower USA Concert in Atlanta, Georgia. This progressive and power metal festival has been annually rocking the USA since 2001 and is set to bring some of the powerhouse progressive metal gods to the stage September 10-13, 2014. This is an opportunity for progressive metal rock fans to interact with bands in new ways and even catch international acts that have never before performed on a stage in the United States. It is definitely a multicultural experience set the sounds of metal. There is a sense of community that goes beyond the typical festival feel with autograph signings, guest appearances and meet and greet happenings to bring the fans and the bands closer together.

About ProgPower USA Concert

The ProgPower USA Concert held its first festival in February 23-24 in 2001 in a suburb just outside of Chicago, Illinois. Since that first show, the remaining festival events have been held in Atlanta, Georgia. Not only is Atlanta the capital of Georgia, it is also the most populated city in the state and has a relatively broad history with music ranging from country, southern rock, contemporary indie rock bands and the progressive metal showcases at ProgPower USA concerts. One of the most important philosophies embraced by the festival producers is that quality is much more important than quantity.

ProgPower USA Concert Experience

The fan experience at ProgPower USA is where metal music meets with a multi-cultural affair. This year the lineup at the Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia includes acts from Greece, Germany, Norway, USA, Italy, Sweden and Finland. While it is primarily a mix of Northern European metal bands, it is exactly what many fans are eager to see and many international acts are ready to play. The line up includes the following bands: Need, Orden Ogan, Leprous, Overkill, Seventh Wonder, Stratovarius, Withem, Divided Multitude, Voodoo Circle, Masterplan, Pain of Salvation, Jon Oliva's Pain. There is a kickoff that will take place on the anniversary of September 11, 2014. The special lineup for the kickoff includes Drakekon, DGM and Pagan's Mind. Of course, the fun of ProgPower USA does not end there, as there is also a Mid-Week Mayhem schedule the day before that includes the following bands: Theocracy, Vangough and Pain of Salvation. Since Pain of Salvation is playing two nights, the band is expected to play a different set to ensure attendees get a full quality progressive metal experience.

ProgPower USA Concert Breakthrough

In the early years following 2001, the festival was successful in the following 13 years by selling out the shows. The expansion to include more and more international acts has been quite an important factor into expanding the festival. Over the years, the festival has had over 70 international acts debut for the first time in the United States of America. That is one impressive and wonderful opportunity for both fans and bands alike. According to an article written by Jonathan Barkan on the Bloody Disgusting website, Leprous, the Norwegian progressive rock/metal band explained, "We're over-excited to announce that we'll finally do some shows in the USA and Canada in September! It has always been a dream for us to do a US/Canada tour, and to start the tour in one of the coolest festivals in the country is an honor! Even though the tour is rather short we get to visit many great places. We promise to give everything we have to give, so we recommend you to attend a show near you!" The ProgPower USA knows just how important it is to bands to breakthrough to the audiences in North America and is providing an opportunity for their music to be heard live at the festival. It genuinely is a wonderful opportunity for everyone involved and a progressive way of thinking about all the stakeholders involved in a festival: band, fans and producers.

ProgPower USA Concert Trivia

The founder and producer of the ProgPower USA Concert conceived of the idea after attending the Powermad Festival in Baltimore, Maryland. He had dinner with friends and they started to discuss the possibility of putting on such a festival. The idea was that he wanted to reach a larger fan base by becoming more international and has successfully bee able to create a brand that speaks to music lovers across the globe. It is part due to an unofficial relationship with ProgPower Europe. Each band that joins the ProgPower USA Concert's stage has its own bit of Trivia. For example, the band Theocracy recently announced a new drummer to their present lineup. Theocracy met the new drummer Patrick Nickell while he was playing for Oblivion Myth of Nashville. Nickell brings 13 years of experience drumming to Theocracy and will be on stage for Midweek Mayhem at ProgPower USA. It is just another reason to check out the festival.
