Ragtime is a hit musical that is based on the novel of the same name. The story takes place in 1975 and tells the story of three groups in America. One group is represented by Coalhouse Walker Jr., a Harlem musician; Mother, the matriarch of a WASP family in New Rochelle, New York; and Tateh, a Latvian Jewish immigrant.
What makes this show so entertaining is that in incorporates several pieces of history. There are many different figures from the past that make appearances in this show, such as Henry Ford, Booker T. Washington, Houdini and Emma Goldman.
