The Pavilion at Ravinia History
The Pavilion is part of Ravinia Park in Highland Park, Illinois which has been
in operation since 1904. The venue has served as the home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra during the summer months as well
as music festivals and concerts by big name acts. The concert series runs from June through September giving people in the
Chicago area the opportunity to enjoy some great music stretched out on the grass in the warm summer air. The Ravinia Music
Festival held at the Pavilion is the oldest outdoor music festival in the United States with the first festival having been

event including Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, Tony Bennett, Gladys Knight, George Gershwin, Elvis Costello and more. Classical
music lovers flock to the Pavilion each summer to hear a performance by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra which is one of the
best in the world. Of course, rock concerts are also a huge draw to the Pavilion at Ravinia with shows by the likes of Billy
