Redfest: Americana, Southern Rock and the Great Outdoors
Part backyard barbecue, part outdoor theme park, Redfest
is a three-day festival in Austin, Texas, that's devoted to music, comedy, reality TV and all things pertaining to the outdoor
lifestyle. "For Folks Who Do It Outdoors" - that is Redfest's motto, and with multiple on-site villages spotlighting country
and southern music, hunting and fishing activities, chili cooks-offs, games, rides, zip-line and kart racing, Redfest tickets
are perfect for people who love to play hard with the wind in their hair. Where else can you find country music, extreme sports
and a huge outdoor BBQ all rolled into one?
Redfest highlights a diverse lineup of Americana
and country music stars. Tim McGraw, Florida Georgia Line, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kip Moore and Big & Rich, among others, are
set to play across multiple stages. Jeff Foxworthy, reality TV superstar Larry the Cable Guy and Rodney Carrington are scheduled
to handle the comedy duties. However, the fun doesn't end there. "Duck Dynasty" is arguably the most popular reality show
on TV. Phil and Alan, the TV show's stars, will not only be at Redfest, but they will also be delivering an original sermon
on Sunday morning, not to mention officially marrying a winning couple.
Every band, solo singer
and comedian in the Redfest lineup has been successful and broken into the mainstream, but no musician playing at the festival
illustrates this better than country music superstar Tim McGraw. While McGraw' first album had a few minor hits on it, he
did not break through until 1994. That year, Tim McGraw's second album, "Not a Moment Too Soon," became the top-selling country
Today, Tim McGraw's total album sales exceed 40 million units. He is the third best-selling
country music star of all time and has had 11 consecutive albums debut at No. 1. However, the accolades do not end there.
McGraw has also won three Grammy awards and 25 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Chart.
country fair, part flea market and with more stellar music and laugh-out-loud comedy than you could ever wish for, Redfest
is no ordinary festival. It's a rollicking mix of Americana and southern hospitality, and as the motto suggests, it's the
perfect weekend getaway "For Folks Who Do It Outdoors."
Jeff Foxworthy, one of the world's most prolific
and recognized comedians and the same funnyman who founded Blue Collar Comedy, is the creator and founder of Redfest. The
festival, usually an annual affair, will be held on Memorial Day Weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
Redfest is a big southern party, and there is nothing like it on the festival circuit. Jeff Foxworthy named
the festival Redfest because of all the redneck jokes he's made over the years. Between the country music, blue collar comedy,
archery lessons and tractor rides you'll find at the multiple villages at the Austin festival, the name Redfest makes perfect
sense. To quote Jeff Foxworthy on the event: "I am trying to pull out a piece of redneck spirit that lives in anyone that
works or plays outdoors."
