Reno Events Center History

Located just one block from the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in Reno, Nevada, the Reno Events Center serves as a multipurpose venue that accommodates everything from headlining comedians to the luminaries of pop music. This venue was first opened in 2005, and has since become a locale revered for the entertainment to be found there. From nail-biting boxing matches to world tour launches, Reno Events Center is the place to be. The Reno Events Center serves as the home to the NBA Development League's Reno Bighorns and was previously the home to the Reno Barons, the Western Indoor Football Association team. In 2012 and 2013, the NBA D-League Showcase came to the Reno Events Center, which was a four-day event for teams representing the NBA Development League. In conjunction with hosting indoor football and basketball, the Reno Events Center is also purposed to host big-name concert headliners and top-notch comedians.

The Reno Events Center is known for hosting some of the biggest events in the Reno area, and that will be the case yet again this year. There are some incredible music concerts schedule to be held at this venue, and you can be there in the stands to enjoy it in person. July will see acts like Demi Lovato and Motley Crue, showing the wide range of artists that play this venue. Gabriel Iglesias will be on hand in August for a show that is sure to draw people in big numbers. August will also see WWE Live come to town and showcase some of the biggest names in sports entertainment. There is never a shortage of entertainment at the Reno Events Center.

Celebrated as "The Biggest Little City in the World," Reno's claim to fame is being the birthplace of Caesars Entertainment Corporation. Reno is also well know for its casinos and the industry thrived in the 1980s when Indian gaming rules were still casual. However, by 2000, the Californian Native casinos started to chip away into Reno's piece of the gaming pie. But, besides gambling, there are a host of other things to do and see in Reno, Nevada. Seasonal and year-round recreational activities are abundant. Natives of the area can be found at Pyramid Lake, Lake Tahoe or the Truckee River. Snowboarding and skiing are also popular pastimes, attracting thousands of tourists to the area each year. There are close to 20 ski resorts in the region, including Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl, Heavenly Mountain, Mount Rose and Diamond Peak. And, Reno is also a fantastic place to go for snowmobiling, ice skating and snowshoeing. Summer offers plenty of opportunity for biking, including international bike competitions hosted in Lake Tahoe.
