Frontman for the Old 97s, Rhett Miller was born in Texas and built a successful solo career out of his adult alternative outfit. His first solo album appeared prior to Old 97s fame in 1989 before a friendship spurned the group. Eventually Miller took a break from his self-created outfit to work on the solo set "The Instigator" in 2002 before balancing both acts.
