Home to the Rice University Owls football program, Rice Stadium is an historic landmark on the school’s campus. The stadium features an 8,000 square foot fitness center and 47,000 seats for Owls fans, and the stadium is unique because it was built strictly for football. The box office is located at the Autry Court Rice Gym, which sits off entrance 8 off University Boulevard. All major credit cards are accepted when purchasing tickets before the event, but cash only is accepted on game days. Will call generally opens two hours before events.

Rice University – 6100 South Main Street, Houston, TX 77005: Entrances to Rice Stadium are located off University, Greenbriar or Rice Streets. From the north, take I-610 East and merge onto US-59 South via Exit 20 toward downtown. Exit Fannin Street, making a left onto the street and a right onto Southmore Boulevard. Turn left onto Main Street and keep right at the fork in the road. From the west, take I-10 East to I-610 South and merge onto US-59 North. Take the Main Street exit and turn right onto Main Street, keeping right at the fork in the road. From the east, take I-610 West to I-45 North and merge onto TX-288 South. Merge onto US-59 South and take the Fannin Street exit, making a left onto Fannin Street and turn right onto Southmore Boulevard. Make a left onto Main Street, and keep right at the fork in the road. From the south, take TX-288 North and exit onto Binz Street/Calumet Street, staying straight to get onto South Freeway. Turn left onto Calumet Street, which becomes Binz Street, and turn left onto Main Street, keeping right at the fork in the road.

There are 25,000 parking spaces available onsite at Rice University’s Rice Stadium. Free event parking is available in a lot adjacent to the stadium, and handicap parking is also available in the East lot with a valid license plate. During football season, parking lots next to Rice Stadium will be filled first and early, and tailgating is allowed for events four hours before games begin. Tailgating packages are available through the university, and RV parking is available for an extra fee.

Rice Stadium was built in 1950, and the venue has housed dozens of historic events in its tenure, including a speech by John F. Kennedy in 1962 in which the president challenged Americans to send a man to the moon by the end of the ‘60s. Before the stadium was used strictly for the Rice Owls, it was home to the Houston Cougars and Houston Oilers, as well as the Bluebonnet Bowl.
