Phil Vassar was born May 28, 1964 in Virginia and had a father who was a local singer. Vassar didn't decide to pursue a music career until college where he took courses in music. He came to Nashville in 1987 and started playing around in local restaurants and bars. Vassar released his first album in 2000 and got his first number one hit "Just Another Day In Paradise."
