Originated in the Windy City in 1999, Rise Against rose out of the ashes of 88 Fingers Louie. Joe
Principe, the former bassist for 88 Fingers Louie, collaborated with Tim Mcllrath on a new effort centered on traditionalist
hardcore. Dan Precision was enlisted on guitar - also an 88 Fingers alum. Later on, Brandon Barnes came aboard as the drummer.
Rise Against inked a deal with Fat Wreck and released The Unraveling in 2001. Precision split from the Rise Against fold that
same year and Todd Mohney took his place. Rise Against then hit the road, which led to Revolutions Per Minute (2002). Inclusion
on the Warped Tour and a positive reception from both critics and fans paved the way for Rise Against to land a record deal
with DreamWorks/Geffen. In 2004, Siren Song of the Counter Culture dropped, serving as the band's very first major-label effort.
In support of the release, they set out on tour, visiting places like Japan, Europe, Australia and North America. The album
itself scored in the Billboard Top 200. In July 2006, the group issued The Sufferer & the Witness. The album netted the
No. 10 spot on the Billboard 200. Rise Against continued on with a rigorous tour schedule in 2007 and a year later, they issued
Appeal to Reason, which skyrocketed to No. 3 on the Billboard charts and sold an astonishing 64,700 copies in its initial
week of release. Endgame, the band's sixth album, arrived at the start of 2011. Rise Against's most recent album is The Black
Market (2014). Over the years, Rise Against, like many bands, has lost and gained members. Their current lineup is comprised
of original members, Mcllrath, Principe, with the addition of Brandon Barnes and Zach Blair.
