George Roger Waters was born in 1943 in England. Waters never knew his father, who fought and died in World War II in 1944. This tragic loss was the source of many references in Waters' music throughout his career. From 1965 to 1985, Waters reached his greatest level of fame when he was a member of legendary band Pink Floyd. Their most famous album, Dark Side of the Moon, remains a popular purchase to this day.
