The San Diego Chargers - Schedule in 2014

With another explosive roster that is sure to give their fans plenty of thrills all season long, the Chargers are taking aim at the top of the divisional standings and looking to get right back to the playoffs. It's never easy in the same division as the Chiefs and the Broncos, but the Chargers have the talented roster to make it very difficult on even the best teams in the division, which is why it's the perfect time to get out and see a great game loaded with twists, turns and nail-biting moments that you'll be talking about a long time after it's all over. The Chargers, under first-year coach Mike McCoy, proved that they're close to busting down that door to the Super Bowl after their inspiring run to the playoffs in 2013. Now it's time for the next step. With a home schedule loaded with exciting matchups including games with the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks as well as all of their divisional rivals, the Chargers are a team you definitely don't want to miss out on.

The Team

The Chargers are never out of the game with an explosive offense led by Philip Rivers who enjoyed a career renaissance last season with 32 touchdown passes. Once again they have a talented squad bursting with playmakers that will be looking to get the Chargers back to the top of the AFC West standings. With a reliable running game, a passing game that can dice even the most staunch of defensive secondaries and a defensive of their own that can do a little bit of everything, the Chargers have a very bright future ahead of them as they look to once again rise in the AFC West. There has never been a better time to head out and get right into the thick of the action in another season that is sure to be the talk of San Diego all season long.

The Experience

Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know that one of the premier sporting events of the day is the NFL, giving fans amazing thrills as some of the best athletes in the entire world clash on the gridiron with everything on the line. If you've never been out to see the big game from the stadium, you have absolutely no idea what you've been missing, as some things you simply can't replicate from home – no matter how much you paid for that tiny little flat screen. With Pro Bowl-level playmakers all over the field, the NFL is sure to give you some big-time thrills once again this season, providing plenty of incentive to head out and see the action for yourself.

It doesn't get any better than seeing this kind of pigskin action from your very own spot in the stadium, where the game really springs to life. Seeing the game on TV doesn't even compare to watching the game from the stands, but that's not something that you're going to truly learn anywhere else. There's an amazing atmosphere that goes with being at the game in person, and that's something you can see for yourself when you head out to the stadium sometime soon. Don't miss out on the chance to see a great contest unfold live in front of a great crowd that you know will be bringing their passion and intensity all season long.

Trivia

In what city did the Chargers originate?

The answer is Los Angeles, where the Chargers played for one season before moving south to the city of San Diego. Down in San Diego, the Chargers found the perfect place to play, and over the years they've become iconic parts of the local sports scene for a reason. With plenty of developed rivalries, the Chargers are never lacking in exciting matchups from season to season.

History

The San Diego Chargers were founded as the Los Angeles Chargers in 1960 and played there for one season before moving to San Diego. The team won the American Football League championship in 1963, marking one of the finest seasons of their franchise's history. It took three decades for the team to get back to a league championship game, when they reached the Super Bowl in 1994. However, the Chargers were unable to emerge victorious in that game, losing by a large margin to the San Francisco 49ers thanks to Hall of Famers Steve Young and Jerry Rice.

With all-time greats like Junior Seau and Dan Fouts among others, the Chargers have had many great players over the years, and that's a tradition unlikely to change any time in the near future. For nearly a decade, it was LaDainian Tomlinson making linebackers look like they were stuck in slow motion and racking up rushing records in the process, providing some amazing moments and establishing a reputation as one of the greatest running backs of all-time. These days, the faces are little bit different, though NFL tickets are always some of the hottest tickets around town thanks to a passionate fan base eager to see the Chargers get back to the top.

The Fans

The Chargers tend to be in the middle of one amazing matchup or another throughout the regular season, and their eyes are always on the playoffs thanks to their explosive talent level. And part of the reason that the atmosphere is so great is because of the fans, who pour into Qualcomm Stadium in sunny San Diego to provide the perfect backbone for a highly anticipated game. Once you're there soaking up the vibes of a great game, you'll be glad that you're not sitting anywhere else.
