San Diego Padres Playoffs

There is nothing like being there in the stands when the game is on the line and it's the Padres digging in on the diamond, particularly when the playoffs are on the line. Major League Baseball is already one of top spectator sports you're going to find anywhere, but it gets taken to a completely different level once the postseason rolls around and only the best of the best remaining swinging their way towards the Fall Classic. America's Pastime is something to behold during the playoffs, giving you plenty of reasons to head out to the stands instead of trying to conjure up the atmosphere of the stadium from home.

Starting in spring training, the Padres will be building toward making a postseason run, giving their fans many great moments in the process as they look to pile up the wins and once again become a major factor in the National League West. It's never easy in the same division as the Giants, Rockies, Dodgers and Diamondbacks, but that only makes for plenty of lively rivalries that have only grown over time. With another well-balanced squad, the Padres are sure to give the rest of the division a run for their money, providing plenty of thrills along the way as the Pads look to battle their way into the playoff picture yet again.

The Experience

When your favorite player strolls to the plate with the game on the line, there is nothing close to being there so you can actually see the big game the way it was meant to be seen. Sure, you could watch from home or that dingy bar down the street, but it pales in comparison with actually being there to join in the action first-hand. Be there for all of the bench-gripping moments that you'll be talking about well after it's over, because this is the type of experience that might just remind you why baseball is still as good as it gets if you're looking for a spectator sport. When your favorite team is involved in a nail-biter and the electricity of the crowd builds headed toward the later innings, particularly when we're talking about the postseason, there isn't another sport like it.

The Team

Baseball has long been an important part of the local sports scene around San Diego, and this is a roster that tends to have plenty of up-and-coming stars to go along with the savvy vets they have all over the lineup. Put them together and you get an exciting brand of baseball and you never know which talented youngster is going to breakout, making them a team to watch in the ultra-competitive N.L. West. Major League Baseball routinely brings superstars to the diamond, providing plenty of challenges along the way for the Padres as they hope to round into form and make a run at the postseason.

San Diego Padres Trivia

Did you know that Tony Gwynn holds the Padres record for highest batting average over a single season?

OK, anyone who knew anything about Gwynn's historic career knows that he pretty much owns all of the Padres hitting records associated with batting average. But it really all came together for Gwynn in 1994, when he hit an absurd.394 and nearly became the first player since the early 1940s to finish with.400 or more for the season. Gwynn would follow that up by leading the league in batting average the next three years too, batting.350 or higher in all of them.

San Diego Padres History

MLB tickets to see the Padres in the playoffs have been around since their first division title granted them admittance to the 1984 postseason. San Diego captured its first World Series appearance with the help of Tony Gwynn in 1984, and then went again in 1998 after beating the Braves in a memorable series. Since then, the Padres have won a couple of N.L. West titles but are still looking to take the next step, though an exciting roster filled with up-and-coming talent has fans thinking about seeing their team back into the postseason much sooner than later.

The Fans

Sure, regular season games are a must-see if you're a true fan, but there is nothing quite like being there and watching the Padres when the postseason rolls around. Will you be there when your favorite pitcher is bearing down with against a slugger with the game on the line? Petco Park is already one of the great ballparks to see a regular season game, but seeing a postseason game there would bring the action to a completely different level as the Padres dig and chase their Fall Classic aspirations. Baseball doesn't get any better than the Major League Baseball postseason, as it's where stars are born, legends are made, and the fans who show up great treated to one memorable night after another as the best of the best clash on the diamond.
