Sarah Kate Silverman was born on December
1st, 1970 in Manchester, New Hampshire as the youngest of four sisters. While she was raised in a Jewish household, a fact
that fuels some her most hilarious comedy bits, she associates more with a secular world view. After attending New York University
in Manhattan, Sarah Silverman moved to Greenwich Village to pursue her career in show business. Her big break into the comedy
world came with her work on Saturday Night Live as a writer and featured player during the 1993-1994 season. While her coworkers
and superiors credited her for her performances, her writing was not up to par, as none of her sketches made it to air. She
was released from her contract after the initial season, but Sarah Silverman utilized the experience she gleaned from her
tenure at Saturday Night Live to pave the way for her future success.
During the late
1990's and early 2000's, Sarah Silverman cut her teeth with guest roles in television and on the silver screen, including
parts in Seinfeld, Mr. Show, Crank Yankers, There's Something About Mary, School for Scoundrels, Rent, and School of Rock
with fellow comedians Jack Black and Mike White. In 2005, she released her first concert film, Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic,
which was met with tepid critical acclaim, but afforded her the opportunities to appear on Comedy Central once more, which
lead to the development of her piece de resistance, The Sarah Silverman Program.
