After seeing a Ramones concert in 1986, Ben Faster and John Pierson were inspired to start a band of their own. They gave themselves new band aliases-Ben Weasel and John Jughead-and recruited fellow musician Steve Dubick who became Steve Cheese. The band's name was originally All Night Garage Sale, but was later changed to Screaming Weasel as a play on a friend's suggestion. They produced their first self-titled album for $200 in one night, releasing the album on Underdog Records. While the band struggled to find their niche and the right mix of musicians, Ben Weasel remained a constant in the group, and continued to keep the band going. Screeching Weasel has released dozens of studio albums, EPs and singles, and several modern punk bands like Blink-182, Green Day and The All-American Rejects have cited Screeching Weasel as an influence in their musical careers.
