The Seahawks in the Playoffs

The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the best teams in the National Football League and look like a good bet to win the NFC West title. If they do, they'll have outdone the San Francisco 49ers, a team that advanced to the Super Bowl last season and nearly won the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The Seahawks made it to the postseason last year, but failed to advance to the Super Bowl. This season, however, many experts and fans consider the Seahawks to be one of the favorites to represent their conference in the big game. The Seahawks have one of the best defensive units in the league, which always goes a long way in the playoffs. A strong running game is often a big weapon in the postseason as well, something that Seattle is certainly equipped with. With running back Marshawn Lynch going into his patented "beast mode," this Seattle team will be looking to run all over the competition in the playoffs. Quarterback Russell Wilson has shown himself to be poised beyond his years, which is key in the pressure-packed NFL postseason. This is a well-rounded team that should be able to do some serious damage in the playoffs.

Head coach Pete Carroll has brought a tough mentality to this organization, and fans can see the result of that on the field, The Seahawks won't back down from anybody, and they love to push other teams around on the gridiron. This team is filled with talented players that are willing to do whatever it takes to win a game. When it comes to the postseason, this will definitely be the case, as every player knows it's do or die. The beauty of the postseason is that every game means win or go home, something that makes every participant give their all on every single play.

The Team

The Seattle Seahawks have put together a great season thus far and look to be one of the top teams in the National Football League. For Seattle, it all starts with their suffocating defensive unit, one that features big-time playmakers at every level. This defense routinely shuts down the best offenses in the league, and has shown that a strong defense can still win games in this pass-happy NFL. The old adage in the NFL is that defense wins championships, and that's something the Seahawks are looking prove this season. If there's a defense that can carry its team to the Super Bowl, it's this one.

Offensively, the Seahawks have been as steady as they come, relying on running back Marshawn Lynch to spearhead the ground game and get the chains moving. Lynch is extremely difficult to take down, as he's one of the hardest runners in the league. Second-year quarterback Russell Wilson has played extremely efficiently since entering the pro game and winning the starting gig in surprising fashion, and he only seems to be getting stronger as the 2013 season progresses. Wilson does a great job spreading the ball around in the passing game, something that keeps opposing defenses guessing at every turn. It's going to be difficult for anyone to ground this Seahawks team this season, and a trip to the Super Bowl is definitely in play for this proud organization.

The Experience

The National Football League is the best of the best when it comes to football, but that's taken to a whole new level in the playoffs. If you've been to an NFL game, then you know how incredible the atmosphere in the stadium can be. However, if you haven't made it out for a postseason contest as of yet, then you have no idea what you've been missing out on. The intensity and electricity coursing through the stands is ratcheted up to a whole different degree. Every play is a big play in the postseason, and you won't want to leave your seat for even a second during the game. Watching the action unfold right there before you is an incredible experience, especially when everything is on the line for both of the teams on the field.

When was the last time the Seattle Seahawks reached the postseason?

The answer is 2012.

The Seattle Seahawks were founded in 1976 and are currently a member of the NFC West division, a division they have won five times and are hoping to yet again this season. The Seahawks have been to the postseason 12 times before, even going to the Super Bowl during the 2005 season, though the team lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the big game. In 2010 the Seahawks defeated the New Orleans Saints at home in a big upset victory. Running back Marshawn Lynch put together one of the most impressive runs in the history of the league in that game, causing the raucous Seattle crowd to actually register on the Richter Scale.
