Seton Hall Pirates Basketball History
The Seton Hall Pirates are no strangers to postseason play, and have one
of the most storied postseason traditions of any major program. Before P.J. Carlesimo took over the Seton Hall Men's Basketball
program in 1982, the Pirates had only had a few NIT Tournament appearances in the school's history. Though he inherited a
struggling team, Coach Carlesimo, began to turn around the culture of Seton Hall into one of the finest runs in recent memory.
By 1988, the Pirates made the NCAA Tournament, and the following year, the Pirates played in one of the most memorable championship
games of all-time. Though they would end up losing a nail-biter to the Wolverines, the game largely put the Pirates on the
map on the national scene and soon the Pirates were building themselves into a bona fide powerhouse.
