Shania Twain Background

Eilleen Regina Edwards, who would later change her name to Shania Twain, was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. Her childhood was anything but easy; she grew up in a rugged community in Canada in a poor household, although she looks back on her family life with fondness, saying that there was always plenty of happiness. Due to her family situation, Twain learned how to chop wood, hunt, and survive with little money in the remote Canadian countryside. The need for money was actually the catalyst for Twain's desire to perform, because by the time she was eight years old, she had taken it upon herself to earn a few extra dollars for her family by singing in local bars. Twain wrote her first song when she was 10, and by then her passion for music was unstoppable; if there was one thing that Twain was going to do with her life, it would be making music.

After graduating high school, Twain joined a band called "Flirt", a cover band that toured throughout Ontario. Eventually, she had attracted enough attention with her phenomenal vocals and charismatic on-stage personality that caught the attention of Mercury Nashville. After signing to Mercury, Twain decided to change her name from Eilleen to Shania, and she immediately got to work on writing and recording songs for her debut album. She released her self-titled debut album in 1993, and it earned her fans all around the world and even scored her the Country Music Television Europe's "Rising Video Star of the Year" award.

In 1995, Shania Twain experienced her major breakthrough in music. Her album, The Woman in Me, featured hit songs like "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?", "No One Needs to Know", and "Any Man of Mine". Suddenly, Twain had become one of country music's biggest stars. Her songs were unlike anything in country music at the time, and she is regularly considered a pioneer in country music for female artists. The album was such a smash success that it not only sold millions of copies around the world, but it also earned her a Grammy Award for Best Country Album of the year. Once Shania Twain entered the country music scene, there was no stopping her. She quickly became a major force not just in country music, but in all of mainstream music as well.

Twain went from singing in bars to performing in front of sold-out crowds thanks to her hard work, persistence, and incredible. Few artists in music have had a bigger or more successful career than Twain has, which is why you definitely want to take advantage of the opportunity to see her when you have the chance!
