The Texas-based indie rock outfit Shearwater planted roots in the music industry in the early 2000s, formed out of a collaboration between Will Sheff (Okkervil River) and Jonathan Meiburg (Kingfisher). The reflective indie music that resulted from the set quickly became a music group known as Shearwater, and the band has garnered a cult following ever since.
