Shoreline Amphitheatre History
Shoreline Amphitheatre has been one of the most popular music venues in the Bay
Area since it first opened in 1986. The venue was originally built on top of an old landfill but you would be hard pressed
to know that when attending a concert at this beautiful outdoor venue with its rolling green hills and outstanding views of
the surrounding mountains. It has hosted many classic concerts and music festivals over the years and draws music lovers from
all over California to concerts held here. The venue was originally supposed to open with a Grateful Dead show but after Jerry
Garcia fell into a coma the date had to be rescheduled. Many of the most famous names in music have played at Shoreline Amphitheatre
along with most of the hottest acts of the day who pass through the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Shoreline Amphitheatre is a great place to catch a show, as it always has some of the top music acts in
the country hitting the stage. There are some fantastic shows to attend at this venue in the near future, and fans will pack
into the stands to experience the incredible live music. The Vans Warped Tour will visit the Shoreline Amphitheatre, giving
fans the chance to see a multitude of acts in one day. Motley Crue will visit thus summer for what should be a raucous concert.
Other groups like Santana, Arcade Fire and more will hit the stage at the Shoreline this summer in what should amount to another
fantastic season for this venue.
San Francisco, California
San Francisco is one of the most visited cities
in the United States and is brimming with things to do. If you are looking to spend a quiet day picnicking and wandering around
you can check out the gorgeous Golden Gate Park or Presidio Park. A trip down to Fisherman's Wharf is always a must when visiting
the city as well. If you are looking for sports the Bay Area also has you covered. Depending on the season you can catch a
San Francisco Giants game, a San Francisco 49ers game, or head across the bay to see the Golden State Warriors, the Oakland
A's, or the Oakland Raiders. This is not to mention the plethora of college sports going on while school is in session.
Shoreline Amphitheatre Seating Layout
Shoreline Amphitheatre is capable of holding 22,500 visitors with 6,500
reserved seats and 16,000 general admission lawn seats. During some festivals, like the Vans Warped Tour, the amphitheater's
parking lot is used. During most concerts you will have the option to spread out on the grass and find your own spot and the
venue even has lawn chairs available for rent during the concert, or you can choose to pay extra for reserved seats closer
to the stage. Either way you are in for a treat when you attend a concert at Shoreline Amphitheatre.
Did you know that Shoreline Amphitheatre was originally designed to reflect the "Steal Your Face"
logo of the Grateful Dead?
