Before the film Shrek was released, ogres were always viewed as scary fictional beings who should be avoided at all costs.
Now, Shrek the ogre is one of the most beloved figures in all of entertainment. He may have a hard exterior, but his heart
is a complete marshmallow. Now, the story has been turned into a musical that is perfect for the whole family.
Fairy tales often revolve around a beautiful princess marrying a handsome prince. This isn't exactly the case with Shrek.
Instead, he is an ugly ogre who must embark on a quest to save a princess in order to get his swamp back. He has no desire
to marry the princess, but that could change when Shrek finds out the truth. This will be unlike any other theater show.
One way that Shrek the Musical
differs from the film version is the score. It features music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire.
The musical version includes songs like "Don't Let me Go," "This is How a Dream Comes True," "Morning Person," "This Is Our
Story" and others. Don't miss it when the show comes to Cincinnati.
