Anyone who has seen the film Shrek knows that most ogres just want to be left alone. That must be especially hard for Shrek
now that he is easily the most famous ogre ever. The films were such favorite that they were made into a musical, called Shrek
The Musical. Don't miss you chance to see this unforgettable theater
show with your family when it comes to Durham, North Carolina.
Shrek The Musical is
based on the first of the Shrek films. In the story, the solitary peace of Shrek's swamp is disturbed when a large number
of banished fairytale characters are forced to reside in the swamp. Shrek appeals to the ruler of the land to get rid of the
intruders, and the pocket-sized Lord Farquaad says he will do it if Shrek rescues a princess from a dragon-guarded tower for
Farquaad to marry. Along with a talking donkey, Shrek sets off for an adventure that will change his life forever.
Shrek was already a hit story before it came to the stage. One of the ways the musical breathes new life into the story
is by adding an amazing score. Jeanine Tesori was in charge of the music for the show, while David Lindsay-Abaire is the one
behind the book and lyrics. The score includes soon-to-be classics like "Travel Song," "This is How a Dream Comes True," "Freak
Flag" and many others.
