The metal band Skeletonwitch formed in Athens, Ohio in 2003, and by 2004, the band had released
their debut album, "At One With the Shadows," which contained tracks like "Vengeance Will Be Mine," "Onward to Battle," and
the title track. After the release of their debut album, Skeletonwitch started to garner a fan following, and they were later
signed to Prosthetic Records. Backed by a record label, Skeletonwitch went on to release their next album, "Beyond the Permafrost"
in 2007, which was praised for its aggressive riffs that were mixed with melodies. The following year, Skeletonwitch went
on tour as one of the openers for Danzig.
After the success of their first two albums, Skeletonwitch returned to the
studio to begin working on their third album, "Breathing the Fire," which was released in 2009. The album entered the U.S.
Billboard 200 chart at the number 151 position, and it featured the popular track, "Soul Thrashing Black Sorcery." "Breathing
the Fire" proved to be just what the band needed to break into the mainstream, and they subsequently scored coveted spots
on the lineup for Ozzfest in 2010.
Skeletonwitch continued to release more albums, with their fourth studio album, "Forever
Abomination," being released in 2011. Their most recent release is "Serpents Unleashed," and it is considered by many fans
and critics to be the band's best work yet. With songs like "More Cruel Than Weak," the band's most recent album has launched
them to becoming one of the rising acts on the thrash metal scene.
Skeletonwitch's Breakthrough Album
their debut album, "At One With the Shadows," Skeletonwitch was off to a great start, and fans of thrash metal got a preview
of what was to come from this incredible band. Skeletonwitch was soon signed by Prosthetic Records, allowing them to bring
the heat with their next album, "Beyond the Permafrost," which featured the band's popular sound that fans have come to know
and love. By 2009, Skeletonwitch blew away fans and critics with their breakthrough album, "Breathing the Fire," which charted
on the U.S. Billboard 200, and allowed them to be featured at Ozzfest in 2010. Skeletonwitch keeps upping the ante with each
subsequent release, and their most recent album, "Serpents Unleashed," has raised the bar. In addition to their highly praised
albums, the band's music has been featured on videogames like Brutal Legend, and their song "Bringers of Death" was included
in a compilation album from Adult Swim called "Metal Swim."
Skeletonwitch was banned
from playing at which popular venue?
Skeletonwitch was recently banned from performing at Orlando's House of Blues.
It appeared that the band's heavy metal tunes were just too much to handle for the Disney-affiliated venue, and they were
deemed unfit. It's not the first time a metal band has been banned from a venue, and it doesn't look like it's slowed down
Skeletonwitch one bit!
With songs like "More Cruel Than Weak" and "Soul Thrashing Black
Sorcery," Skeletonwitch's live shows are positively explosive. As fans of metal know, there's no better way to listen to your
favorite band than live in concert, and Skeletonwitch's live shows never disappoint. The band is getting underway on their
anticipated tour, and you will get to see them perform at venues from the likes of the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood, the
DNA Lounge in San Francisco, Santa Cruz's Catalyst, the Ace of Spades in Sacramento, the Wonder Ballroom in Portland, El Corazon
in Seattle, the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, and plenty more. When Skeletonwitch heads to a venue near your hometown,
you don't want to miss the opportunity to see them live in concert. Be sure to check them out on their upcoming tour!
