The SMU Mustangs football program is entering the 99th year since its founding and
you can be sure the Mustangs will want to close out the program's first century with a bang. last season SMU finished in fifth
place in the American Athletic Conference, finishing with a 4-4 conference record and a 5-7 overall record. There was some
adjustment necessary during their first season playing in the American Athletic Conference but the Mustangs should be ready
to do much better this season as they have become familiar with their new conference foes. This season's Mustangs are determined
to show the other members of their new conference that they are a team to be feared as they look to make a big move up the
conference standings. Life is never easy in the American Athletic Conference and the Mustangs will certainly have their work

The Mustangs' home opener at Gerald Ford Stadium takes place on September 20th against the Texas A&M
Aggies. The home opener for the Mustangs is always a big deal, but this year's will be even more spectacular as the Mustangs
will be taking on an in-state rival. The following week another Texas university comes to town when the SMU Mustangs take
on the TCU Horned Frogs on September 27th. In October there will be two home conference games with the first being on October
18th against the Cincinnati Bearcats followed by a match up against the Memphis Tigers the following Saturday on the 25th.
The South Florida Bulls come to Dallas for a big late-season game at Gerald Ford Stadium on November 15th before the final
home game against the Houston Cougars on November 28th. There are plenty of opportunities to show the SMU Mustangs your support

The 2014 SMU Mustangs are poised to leave their mark on the American Athletic Conference after a middle of the
road finish during their first season in the conference. Head coach June Jones has been able to get a lot of out of his players
and this year has a talented group returning which he is excited to work with. Last season the Mustangs featured one of the
most electrifying passing attacks in the NCAA and this season SMU should be able to continue to light up the scoreboard. Along
with the strong core of players returning, SMU has added some big time recruits who should both add depth and be able to contribute
during their freshman campaign. It is an exciting time to be an SMU Mustangs football fan as the team looks to establish itself
as a serious contender in the American Athletic Conference and make big moves up the conference standings.

The SMU Mustangs are one of the newest members
of the American Athletic Conference and have already begun to establish some heated rivalries within the conference. Each

In 1987 SMU Mustangs football became the first, and so far only, program to receive
the "Death Penalty" due to NCAA violations. The program had already been punished for violations in 1985 before again violating
NCAA rules by having players who received payments from boosters. The program had a hard time recovering from being completely
terminated from football operations and struggled for the following two decades. However, there is a lot of love in Dallas
for the SMU Mustangs and the program has finally become relevant again and will surely soon be among the top teams in the
American Athletic Conference.
