conference began football play in 1985 and is a football only conference that originally combined schools from three other
conferences, the Missouri Valley Conference, the Gateway Collegiate Athletic Conference, and the Association of Mid-Continent
Universities. There are ten universities that participate in the Missouri Valley Football Conference: North Dakota State,
Youngstown State, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, South Dakota, Northern Iowa, Western Illinois, and Indiana State.
