Southern Illinois Salukis Football Schedule in 2014
With a tradition of excellence that dates all way back to 1905,
the Southern Illinois Salukis are looking to pick up where they left off last season and climb to the top of the table in
the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The Salukis offense was as exciting as it was high scoring in 2013, thanks to a record
breaking year for quarterback Kory Faulkner. Faulker missed a number of games with a finger injury in 2013, but still managed
to rank high in the Missouri Valley Football Conference list of touchdown passes, passing yards and total offense. Faulkner
has graduated and the Salukis are now being led by quarterback Mark Iannotti, who has already led the Salukis to a 45-0 win
over the Taylor Trojans in the first game of the season.
Looking ahead on the SIU Salukis 2014 schedule, one game not
to miss is the September 20 visit to West Lafayette, Indiana, when the Salukis take on the powerful Purdue Boilermakers in
a matchup that will thrill all Southern Illinois fans. A win against the big, bad Boilermakers would be immortalized in Salukis
history, but the team needs all the support it can get from all of their fans in one of the toughest college football environments
in the country. If the Salukis can bottle up some of the spirited atmosphere that they enjoy at Saluki Stadium, then they
might be able to take down the Boilermakers.
Another exciting matchup that you will want to be in the stands at Saluki
Stadium to witness is the clash between the Salukis and the Northern Iowa Panthers on November 15, the last home game of the
season. Emotions always run high on Senior Night and true Salukis fans won't want to miss a single snap of this exciting clash.
The Panthers finished the 2013 season with a 7-5 record and will be looking to take down in the Salukis in order to make a
climb in the Missouri Valley Football Conference standings in 2014. Get to StubHub today to get all of your Southern Illinois

The Missouri Valley Football Conference is a football
only conference, whose members stretch from The Dakotas to Indiana. The conference began competing in 1985, a combination
of three conferences, the Missouri Valley Conference, Gateway Collegiate Athletic Conference and Association of Mid-Continent
Universities. The result is an exciting group of football programs that enjoy rich and storied rivalries that football fans
flip for every season. The most recent Missouri Valley Football Conference Champion are the North Dakota State Bison, who
have held the honor since 2011, when they shared the with the Northern Iowa Panthers. The Bison went undefeated in 2013 and
every team in the conference will be gunning for them, so don't miss a minute of the exciting MVFC action in 2014.
Though the Southern Illinois Salukis have been playing football since 1905, it took until the 2000's
to have their longest string of success in program history. The Salukis were dominant in the decade, winning conference championships
in the Gateway Football Conference and the Missouri Valley Football in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009. The best year in program
history occurred in 1983, when the Salukis won the Division I-AA National Championship when they defeated the Western Carolina
Catamounts by the score of 43-7. In 2014, the Salukis return to the field to try to recreate their success from a decade earlier
and will do so with junior quarterback Mark Iannotti, a former redshirt from Eastern Michigan. With Iannotti at the helm,
the Salukis are optimistic that they can make a move to the top of the table. Senior running back Malcolm Agnew is also looking
to be an All-Conference threat, leading the Salukis in receiving and rushing yards in the team's opening game against Taylor.
