After the demise of At the Drive In, Sparta rose up from out of the ashes in 2001 in El Paso, Texas. That same year, they released an EP with Dreamworks. Their first full-length album would be released the next year entitled Wiretap Scars. In 2004, they released a live album. After several more albums, the group would go on hiatus in 2008 only to regroup at a show in El Paso in 2011, bringing their intensity and innovative musical style with them to the stage.
