Sporting Park History

Sporting Park is the Kansas City soccer stadium that serves as the home of Sporting Kansas City of the MLS and is one of the top soccer stadiums in the United States. The venue opened in 2011 as Livestrong Sporting Park but had its name shortened to Sporting Park in 2013 after the MLS team ended its agreement with the Livestrong Foundation. Sporting Park is certainly best known as the home to Sporting Kansas City and it is the place to go to see them take on the best of the MLS including the Los Angeles Galaxy, the Houston Dynamo, the New England Revolution, DC United, and more. The stadium also is home to games by both the men's and women's US National team as well as world class teams from the English Premiere League including Manchester City. Concerts are also a big part of the schedule at Sporting Park with acts like Arctic Monkeys, the Zac Brown Band, and more making stops at the venue while on tour. Kansas City, Missouri

The largest city in Missouri, Kansas City and offers plenty of things for residents and visitors to do. There are four casinos in the area where you can gamble and take in concerts and comedians. There are about a quarter of a million Irish-American residents in the city and their culture is very present with bars, bands, newspapers, stores, the Irish Museum and Cultural Center, and Browne's Irish Market. Trivia

In 2013 Sporting Park became the first venue in the country to host the three most prestigious events in U.S. soccer, a U.S. Men's National Team game, the MLS Cup, and the MLS All-Star Game. When the team was first founded Sporting Kansas City was known as the Kansas City Wizards but they changed their name in 2010 when they moved to Sporting Park.
