The ‘90s saw some pretty strange developments in the alternative music scene, but one of the weirdest by far was
the sudden boom in big-band swing. Squirrel Nut Zippers was a part of that scene, but they were also something else altogether.
They offered their fans albums that sounded like soundtracks to a modern-day Leon Schlesinger cartoon.
Formed in 1993 and named after a forgotten candy bar of yesteryear, the Squirrel Nut Zippers found a strong following
in the south, getting dolled up swing dancers jitterbugging on the touring circuit before releasing their 1995 debut album,
The Inevitable. After releasing their follow-up, 1996's Hot, their single “Hell” became a surprise hit on the
radio.
Squirrel Nut Zippers tickets are now available, but might not be if you dally
too long. This band has a rabid cult following, and there's a good chance tickets will be as hot as their first major single.
If you don't want to miss out on their performance, and then look up above, see which concert
tickets are for venues near you, and buy them for you and your friends!
