past—but his sound is purely modern and will have you up on your feet in no time. His first full-length album with Neon
Gold, When the Night, is already receiving buzz, and his popularity continues to grow. He has collaborated with musicians
like Nick Brown, Nicky Pual and Pterician Beranek and has remixed tracks for some of the hottest bands around, including Passion
Pit, Charli XCX and Foster the People.
Today, the multi-talented singer is on tour, promoting his latest album and performing
some of his classic hits. His pop-infused music has made him the talk of the town, and this superstar-in-the-making doesn't
seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Fans are already clamoring for tickets and filling concert venues to capacity.
St. Lucia was born Jean-Philip Grobler and always enjoyed music. He knew he had a talent for singing,
and when he was just a child, landing a spot in the coveted Drakensberg Boys' Choir. But his talent for music came before
he could even speak or sit up. His mother tells a story about young Jean-Philip singing along to Michael Jackson records.
While this seems to be an anecdote that so many musicians tell, St. Lucia's story is unique in the fact that he was an infant
when he was bopping along to "Bad" and "Thriller."
This unusual talent made his parents and others take notice of the
young boy's talents early in his life. It seems music was calling St. Lucia's name long before he was a dynamic performer,
thrilling fans in a crowded club in New York City.
About the Artist
Jean-Phillip Grobler was born and
raised in Johannesbug, South Africa. When he wasn't singing along to Michael Jackson records—as an infant, mind you—he
was performing with the Drakensberg Boys' Choir. The young musician traveled the world with the choir and honed his skills
as a singer. When he wasn't touring with the choir in Japan, Australia and Europe, he was pouring over sheet music that included
everything from Bach to minimalist opera. He couldn't get enough music, and he knew even as a boy, that he wanted to spend
his life making it.
When Grobler discovered that he had a passion for pop music, the young musician left the small pond
to be a small fish in the big pond that was England. He studied music for three years in the superstar-birthing town of Liverpool,
England before moving and settling in Brooklyn, New York. When he made it to the city that never sleeps, he changed his stage
name to St. Lucia and began writing and recording his own tracks. These tracks would ultimately find their way onto his first
self-titled release on Neon Gold Records. His dreamy, atmospheric music has struck a chord with music lovers all over the
world. And fans are lining up in venues everywhere to catch a glimpse of this amazing up-and-coming performer as he showcases
his astounding ability to marry electronic and pop music. With the musical skills of a seasoned professional and the influences
of worldly travels, this one-of-a-kind musician has something very unique to offer his fans.
