Paul and the Broken Bones Background
Vocalist Paul Janeway met musician Jesse Phillips in the early 2000s while working
on a musical project, but they didn't come back together creatively until 2012, when they formed St Paul and the Broken Bones.
Reunited in Birmingham, Alabama, the two musicians felt something click with their music, and they realized the incredible
potential of their new project. After gathering together a group of phenomenal musicians to round out their sextet, St Paul
and the Broken Bones started working on their first EP, Greetings from St Paul and the Broken Bones, which they released in
2013. This EP attracted some major attention from music fans, critics, and labels, and before they knew it, they were one
of the most exciting and refreshing new bands in Southern soul and gospel.
The band released its debut full-length album,
Half the City, on Single Lock Records in February 2014. Countless publications and music critics raved about their fun and
fresh sound and insanely catchy tunes, including publications like Rolling Stone and NPR. In just its first week on the market,
Half the City made its way to number seven on the iTunes charts, marking the group's phenomenal initial success as a band.
Not only did they perform on NPR, but they also made their national television debut by performing their original music on
CBS This Morning: Saturday. From then on, St Paul and the Broken Bones couldn't stop attracting attention even if they tried.
Their infectious songs have earned them countless fans all over the world, and their heavy touring schedule has also made
them one of the most exciting touring groups of the past couple of years.
