The Big East Conference features top competition every season. In 2010, the team that came out on top was the University
of Connecticut Huskies. The Huskies beat out all of the other teams in the Big East with a record of 8-5. For the 2011 season,
the Connecticut Huskies football team will be defending their spot atop the Big East Conference.
Football at the University of Connecticut began in 1896. It was that year that the Huskies became part of the Athletic
League of New England State Colleges. Since then, the Huskies have been making their mark on the college football world. Even
now, their legacy continues with every single
NCAA football season, winning numerous conference titles.
The Huskies' history may be storied, but their stadium is one of the most modern in all of college football. Their home
venue is Rentschler Field,
which first opened in 2003. Rentschler Field is built on a former airfield and it is named after Frederick Rentschler, Pratt
& Whitney aircraft founder. Rentschler Field features a capacity of 40,000.
Many former members of University of Connecticut football teams of the past have gone on to play in the pros. Reserving
sports tickets to see the Huskies play this season
is a chance to see the next generation of stars. Gather together your fellow Huskies fans, check the schedule and head out
to one of the upcoming games.
