The Gator Bowl is one that stands on its own as one of the best battles each year in college football. For the 2011 Gator
Bowl, it came down to a matchup between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Michigan Wolverines. The Bulldogs won that
faceoff, and the 2012 Gator Bowl is sure to bring another game featuring some of the best teams in college football.
The Gator Bowl has one of the most storied histories in
NCAA football. In fact, it is the sixth oldest college bowl game. In addition, it was the first bowl game to be televised
nationally. In the more than six decades since the Gator Bowl first began, it has earned a reputation as a place where college
football history is made and changed.
The Gator Bowl was previously held at Gator Stadium, but when Gator Stadium was demolished to make way for EverBank Field, the Gator Bowl got a new home. EverBank
Field has all of the amenities expected of a modern stadium, and renovations have continued to keep EverBank Field state-of-the-art.
EverBank Field is also the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Throughout the years, the Gator Bowl has hosted many now-legendary names in football. Some of the players to take part
in past Gator Bowls include Dan Marino, Earl Campbell, Archie Manning, Thurman Thomas, Payton Manning and many others. Reserving
sports tickets to this year's Gator Bowl means
seeing the next generation of stars.
