Starfucker is an indie electronica mega
sensation that has been rocking the global EDM scene since 2007. The band currently consists of Joshua Hodges, Shawn Glassford,
Keil Corcoran, and Patrick Morris. Hodges, the band's vocalist and a multi instrumentalist, goes by the more commonly known
moniker Sexton Blake, his dance music alter ego that constantly toes the line between EDM goodness and pop music sensibilities.
would be the musical brainchild of Hodges, whose debut on the music scene would come with the release of his self titled debut
under the alias Sexton Blake. Signed onto Expunged Records, Blake would make serious inroads into the electronic music scene
and become one of the paramount figures of the genre in the mid 2000s. Building an ever growing retinue of accompanying musicians
and a fervent fan base, Blake would eventually recruit a lineup of fellow EDM musicians and experiment with various band names,
oscillating between the name Starfucker (sometimes stylized STRFKR) and the much less abrasive Pyramiddd. Ultimately, Sexton
and the group would give the people what they wanted, and what the people wanted was addictive pop dancetronic tracks delivered
from a group of dudes that went by the name Starfucker.
Starfucker would get its big break in 2010, signing onto Polyvinyl
Records and immediately heading to the studio to begin work on their debut EP, and soon after, their debut LP. Their EP would
be a big hit, and the band would be forced out of the studio by popular demand for a nation spanning tour that would demonstrate
the imminent and ever growing popularity of the Starfucker's fresh new sound. The band developed a nonstop work ethic, splitting
their time between the road and the studio as they continued to build up a cult following of fans that would become endeared
by Starfucker's dynamic sounds and idiosyncratic attractions - among them a propensity for entertaining stage antics that
includes but is not limited to dressing in women's clothing while performing. The band's cross dressing antics have been attributed
mainly to the band's certified bass slapper Shawn Glassford.
Starfucker would continue to be pioneers of the rock star
lifestyle, releasing a constant stream of hits while simultaneously bringing their addictive sound all over the world. Their
work would explode across multiple mediums, being picked up in various television commercials, in multiple scenes from the
hit TV show Weeds, The Blacklist and MTV's Skins, and in major motion pictures Chronicle, 21 & Over, and the Fault in
Our Stars. With non stop success spanning so many different media outlets, Starfucker has become a fundamental piece of musical
Americana that informs and drives the EDM music scene, both today and into the foreseeable future.
band's most recent release, 2013's Miracle Mile, remains the most pivotal work for Starfucker to date as they continue to
mature and hone their signature sound into one of the most trailblazing and innovative groups of the decade. The album would
on Polyvinyl Records, gaining widespread critical acclaim that includes a four star rating from the critics at AllMusic as
well as commercial success by charting the Billboard 200, along with a #29 showing on the US Independent Albums and #4 on
the Top Heatseekers Albums music charts. Clocking in at just over fifty minutes, the album spawned a litany of hits that includes
"Fortune's Fool", "I Don't Want to See", and "Nite Rite".
Despite a consistent build up to mainstream
success, the band has suffered from internal tension that has seen the departure of two former members. Ryan Biornstad and
Ian Luxton both departed the band to pursue their own respective musical ventures.
