Starlight Theatre History
The much loved Kansas City music venue Starlight Theatre first opened its doors in 1951,
but the history of the venue actually goes all the way back to 1925. The Romanian Queen Marie visited Kansas City twenty-six
years prior to the building of the venue and the residents of Kansas City made it clear that they wanted to establish an honorary
musical showcase for the queen. The showcase raised over $7,000 and demonstrated that there was a big market for a music venue
in the city. The showcases continued for years after the queen's visit, but it was not until more than twenty-five years later
that a center for music was finally provided for the people of Kansas City and the Starlight Theatre opened. Today the Starlight
Theatre is the place to find all of the best performing arts events to hit Kansas City.
