Baltimore has a long history in American civics, but it has also developed a history in dance music. Ever since the first
warehouse parties started in 1992, Ultraworld Productions has been setting up a fantastical playground of light and sound
for techno lovers. Check out their biggest event, the Starscape Festival, when it comes to Fort Armistead Park this year.
The Starscape Festival brings some of the best-known names in techno to a series of stages in Baltimore. But when Ultraworld
Productions first started bringing techno parties to the city back in the early '90s, they were much simpler affairs. Over
several years, they started to develop into proper festivals, based at legal venues like fairgrounds. Eventually, two festivals
began to vie for the attention of music fans - the Sunrise Festival and the Starscape Festival. In 2001, the organizers began
to concentrate solely on the Starscape Festival.
Ultraworld Productions' various music festivals have ranged all over the city of Baltimore. Pretty much any space that
was open and could hold thousands of ravers was up for grabs. Now, they're bringing the Starscape Festival to Fort Armistead
Park, an abandoned former fort that was established in the 1890s.
