Steve Hackett Background
Hackett was born and raised in London, where he quickly started picking up instruments like the recorder, the harmonica, and
eventually the guitar. His musical inspirations ranged from Johann Sebastian Bach to Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles, and his
taste eventually tilted more toward rock and roll than classical. In the late '60s and early '70s, Hackett worked with various
bands like Sarabande, Canterbury Glass, and Quiet World. Not long after, Hackett posted an ad in a newspaper, claiming that
he was looking for a band of musicians "determined to strive beyond existing stagnant music forms." The advert caught the
attention of Peter Gabriel, Genesis' frontman. Before he knew it, Steve Hackett was a member of Genesis, which would become
solidified in history as one of the most groundbreaking outfits in progressive rock.
During his time with Genesis, Hackett
also decided to branch off and work on his solo projects. He released his debut solo album, Voyage of the Acolyte, in 1975.
The album fared very well in the UK, and it gave Hackett the creative freedom that he craved. When Peter Gabriel left Genesis
in 1976, it became clear to Hackett that he needed to focus his creative energies on his solo work. So in 1977, Hackett announced
his departure from Genesis, and while he has rejoined the band for various reunion tours, Hackett has spent most of his time
working as a solo artist. Since the '70s, Hackett's solo work has earned him phenomenal praise from both critics and fans
alike. As part of Genesis, Hackett has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the iconic '70s lineup,
and now he is ready to bring his solo work to the stage for yet another knockout performance. You could be in the audience
