Steve Martin tickets - Steve Martin Tour

Steve Martin Schedule

How many times have you seen a stand-up comedian on stage and decided he was a jerk? Well, in the case of Steve Martin, it is safe to say that he is and an incredibly funny one. In 1979, Steve Martin co-wrote and starred in the film The Jerk, which is a favorite of IMDb (7.2/10) and Rotten Tomato users (84%). The Jerk was not Steve Martin's first comedic "rodeo." He got his start on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour before performing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and frequently invited to star on Saturday Night Live. All of these opportunities were perfect for building a strong fan base that was excited to see him transition into cinema, where he stayed for many years before now returning back to stand-up. Audiences are thrilled and feel lucky to see this master comedian on stage during his present tour. Don't miss your chance to see this legend crack jokes live, he is incredibly popular and likely to sell out.

About Steve Martin

Steve Martin was born in Waco, Texas and raised in Inglewood and Garden Grove, California. Martin's first job was working at Disneyland where he sold guidebooks. It was also during this time that he became intrigued by magic and illusion and then started to work in Fantasyland. During his time at community college, Martin started to participate in productions as part of a local theatre and even joined a comedy troupe. He went on to university where he majored in Philosophy, which reinforced his interest in non sequitur humor. He eventually transferred to UCLA and switched from Philosophy to Theater. In his adulthood, it is evident that Steve Martin is more than "The Jerk," he is quite the "Renaissance Man." A role that is often afforded to those who are able to breakthrough and make a successful name for themselves. Steve Martin is no exception.

Steve Martin Breakthrough

As a comedic actor, Steve Martin found commercial success in film, receiving praise from fans and critics for decades. Carl Reiner directed some of the most notable comedies. The Jerk was a phenomenal success and continues to be a favorite of many Steve Martin fans. It was just the beginning for Steve Martin, as he made quite the career for himself in a number of films. Although acting and comedy is not his only talent, he is also a writer. He wrote a play entitled "Picasso at Lapin Agile." He is also the author of his own autobiography called Born Standing Up that received critical acclaim. In 2010, he wrote a work of fiction entitled An Object of Beauty. He is so well liked on stage; he has been given the honor of hosting the Academy Awards. What is more is that he is also a musician. In 2007, Martin released a music album called "The Crow: New Songs for the 5-Sting Banjo. Steve Martin is joined by Dolly Parton on the album, as well as other stars. He later appeared at the Grand Ole Opry in 2009, which is a huge compliment to someone who was interested in bluegrass since the age of 17 like Steve Martin. Steve Martin is clearly an impeccable talent and not a performer to miss meeting in person.

Steve Martin Trivia

Steve Martin is more than just a successful actor and comedian, he is also a playwright, author and musician. He plays the banjo and piano. He has won a litany of awards and received numerous accolades for all of his talents. He even founded an award called the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass to reward talented performers in their art. Steve Martin is no stranger to cheering others on. An often-overlooked talent or previous interest is that Martin was a cheerleader during high school in Garden Grove. In addition to cheering in high school and awarding talented musicians for their artistry, Steve Martin is a collector of fine art. In fact, Steve Martin is thought to have been a victim of an art forger from Germany. In addition to the work in question, Martin has collected works of Roy Lichtenstein, Pablo Picasso, David Hockney and Edward Hopper. It is evident that Steve Martin is a well-rounded human being that has the worldliness to add value to his comedy.

Steve Martin Live Show Performance

Steve Martin is known for his relatively offbeat and somewhat absurd humor and comedy routines that have entertained audiences for decades both in the movie house and in a stand-up venue. He came in at number 4 in Comedy Central's list of 100 greatest stand-up comedians, even though he spent a number of years focusing on his acting career. One thing is for certain; Steve Martin has never lost his timing and aptness for offbeat comedy. He is an impeccable talent that has had ample opportunity to refine his tastes and learn much of what the world has to offer. These experiences and interest in the arts will certainly make for a live performance of Steve Martin than the going rate for any Picasso.
